Quince skin care oil for sensitive & irritated winter skin
- Vegan - Gluten-free - Lactose-free
Preparation time: 45 minutes - Difficulty level: easy
- 2-3 organic quinces, according to size
- 200 ml organic vegetable oil that suits your skin type (e.g. mild olive oil without a strong aroma, almond oil or jojoba oil)
- 1 screw-top jar with lid, min. 400 ml capacity for the cold extract
- 1 cotton handkerchief and kitchen towel
- 1 tightly sealable bottle for filling your skincare oil, preferably amber glass and with a dosing pump (pharmacy or drugstore)
- Linen cloth and funnel for filling your dosing bottle
This is how it's done:
Remove any woolly fuzz and dirt from the quinces with a clean kitchen towel, i.e. rub well and separate from the stem.
Carefully peel off the waxy skin with a peeler and cut the fruit into small pieces, place everything in your screw-top jar and pour in the vegetable oil until they are completely covered.
Now cover with cotton cloth and rubber and leave to infuse in a warm place away from light for approx. 2 weeks. The cotton cloth prevents mold growth.
During this time, you should shake your quince oil once a day so that the valuable ingredients dissolve better, using the screw cap for your jar.
Then strain the quince oil through the linen cloth and pour it into your dosing bottle using a funnel. Your homemade skincare oil will keep for months as long as it does not smell rancid. We recommend storing it away from light at room temperature.
It is best used after a shower or bath on skin that is still damp so that the oil can form a protective film on the skin and bind additional moisture. It is also suitable for use on your face or for massage.
Goodbye irritated winter skin!
