Body butter with spruce sprout powder

One of our absolute favorite recipes! It is easy to make and very effective.

Especially in the cold season, stressed and dry skin is grateful for it. Because with their great moisturizing and protective properties, shea and cocoa butter are a real care power duo.

You can find the basic ingredients in drugstores, health food stores or well-stocked supermarkets.

Fresh fir, spruce or pine needles, of course, directly from your own garden or forest and the spruce sprout powder from us.

The scent of pine needles is not only woody, but also citrusy and refreshing. The aroma of spruce has a relaxing and calming effect.

Let yourself be surprised.

To store your body butter, small sealable spread jars, preserving jars or used cream jars are suitable in the interests of sustainability. You should clean them thoroughly before filling and sterilize them with boiling water for 10 minutes.

Let's go:

First, we make an oil extract from the spruce needles. To do this, puree the needles with the olive oil and then place this in a warm water bath at approx. 70 degrees for 20 minutes - do not boil!
Then filter the oil into a tall mixing bowl and add the shea and cocoa butter, as well as the sprout powder, until everything has dissolved well, stirring occasionally. You may need to place it in warm water again.

Then comes the cooling phase:

Take the container out of the water bath and put it in a cool place so that the mixture solidifies again. Depending on the room temperature, this can take 1-2 hours. You can of course also speed up the process in the fridge. Just don't leave it too long so that the mixture doesn't become too hard to whip.

As soon as the mixture has reached a firm consistency, beat it with a hand mixer or hand blender to a fluffy, creamy texture and add the vitamin E drop by drop. Stir until a fluffy shea cream is formed.

Pour the finished body butter into your clean jars/jars, seal them tightly and label them with the date of manufacture.

If stored in a cool, dark place, your body butter will keep for approx. 2-3 months.

Use body butter correctly:

  • It is best to apply your body butter after showering or bathing when the skin is still slightly damp. This allows the nourishing ingredients to be absorbed particularly well.
  • Use shea butter sparingly on the face. Especially for dry or sensitive skin. It protects against cold and supports regeneration. It is also best to lightly moisturize the facial skin beforehand.
  • Also particularly suitable for chapped skin on feet and hands and for lip care.
