- General information about royal jelly:
Royal jelly is the jelly which bees use to raise and feed their queen during her entire lifespan. Royal jelly is exclusively available to the queen although all bee larvae also receive royal jelly for the first three days of their lifespan. Its rich nutritional diversity (protein, vitamins, minerals,and carbohydrates) allows the queen bee to grow to 800 times her weight within five days and her lifespan is about 60 times longer than her conspecifics.
Mankind has long recognized the value of this unique elixir. Both the Greeks and Romans were familiar with royal jelly, and various Indian tribes also appreciated its value. Royal jelly is also often used in Chinese medicine.
